Executive positions are decided by a vote of members every year at the D.C.C. Annual General Meeting.
Executive Duties
President
Is the clubs official representative when approaching government, media, or other such contacts. The President is the chairperson for executive and general club meetings.
Vice President
Stands in for the President when the President is not available. The Vice President also looks after memberships and related tasks. Promotes the club within the community, places ads in community newspapers, places posters, and brochures in community centers, outdoor recreational stores and other appropriate places.
Secretary
Arranges most of the meetings. Records the minutes at each monthly club meeting. Reads the minutes at the following monthly meeting. Stores the club stationary and records. Deals with club correspondence. Writes and sends letters, cards, and replies to written queries as required by the club.
Treasurer
Receives membership applications with dues and keeps the list up to date. Does the banking, and keeps the financial records, statements, registrations, affiliations, insurance for the club. Keeps the card file of contcts upto date.
Trip Coordinator
This person is responsible for arranging contact people and trip leaders for the paddling season and other activities in the off season such as bicycling, skiing, or hiking. Ensures that the trip leaders are familiar with the DCC Guidelines. Encourages paddling safety. The Trip Coordinator compiles a calendar year of trips with descriptions and forwards it to the editor and webmaster for posting.
Training Director
Organizes or delegates the organization of training events. The Training Director is the lead instructor and oversees other volunteer instructors.
Editor
Is responsible for the production of the Dogwood Canoe Club newsletter, "The Gun'le Runner". The Editor will edit submitted articles, procure the printing of hard copies, distribute hard copies at meetings or by mail out. The Editor will post a copy of the "Gun'le Runner" in the D.C.C. website.
Entertainment Coordinator
Arranges for the entertainment at all general club meetings, arranges for necessary equipment if required, and introduces or arranges for the introduction of the entertainer.
Socials Coordinator
Plans the social functions and delegates tasks to people for each event. Social functions include the Summer B.B.Q., Christmas Wine and Cheese Party, Christmas Dinner and Dance, Carol Ship Pot Luck Dinner Night, and others as needed.
Librarian
Manages the club library and provides club members access to the various types of media. Signs out requested materials and ensures the return of same. Categorizes new material when added to the library.
Refreshments
During the club meetings, this person organizes the kitchen and makes available refreshments and snacks to members in attendance.
Photo Album
Adds new photos to the album as required. Displays the albums at the monthly club meetings.
Webmaster
Maintains the club website as a resource for members use and as a means of attracting new members and site visitors. Maintains the "dogwoodcanoe.com" e-mail accounts. Is custodian of the online guestbook.
